Crucial Conversations: Tools For Talking When Stakes Are High

Thursday 8:45am – 9:45am

Session Description

Research shows every conversation failure costs an organization an average of $7500 and seven workdays in lost time and resources. Some conversation failures cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. What’s more, conversation failures are rampant. Conversation failures happen when stakes are high, opinions vary, and emotions run strong. Lack of skills and know-how prevent people from speaking effectively or speaking up altogether. As a result, problems go unresolved or are made worse. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Attend this session and learn how to speak up when it matters most—to foster alignment and agreement around high-stakes issues.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify the most common workplace conflicts that people avoid discussing.
  2. Learn how to make it safe to talk about almost anything.
  3. Learn how to speak candidly about on-the-job incompetence, negligence, bullying, bias, and other risky topics.
